Welcome to Jerry Hester Guide Service!
A passion for the outdoors and fishing led me to become a full time Guide in 1990. Acquiring a Coast Guard Captain’s license allows me to guide clients on waters such as the Tennessee River, where a Captains License is required.
While Lake Lanier is considered home, I also have years of experience on Lake Allatoona and the Tennessee River which includes Watts Bar Dam and Nickajack Dam.
While targeting Stripers and Hydrids most of the time, it is possible to target other species including Spotted Bass, White Bass and Catfish. |

Live bait is onboard and used year round when it’s the preferred bait, but there are times when other techniques will be more productive such as: top water baits, trolling with downriggers or trolling with umbrella rigs.
We will use whatever technique works to put fish in the boat.
While using umbrella rigs is a very successful technique to catch fish, the down side of the rig is that it can be caught on underwater brush, which led me to develop the original umbrella rig retriever.
I market these retrievers under the name of Captain Jerry Hester’s Umbrella Rig Retreiver.
